Top 5 Things to do in Norfolk, VA for Labor Day.
There's often an even split of people upset that summer is coming to an end and those ready for Pumpkin Spice everything and Fall. We here at HRVA Homes are evenly split, but there is one thing we ALL agree on! Norfolk offers a lot of cool stuff to get ready to celebrate that one last sweet weekend of summer, it's almost Labor Day!!
Here's a list of great spots to give you the perfect BBQ setup, things to do and see and more!!! This is our community and we want to be sure you love it as much as we do!!
1. Head to the beach!!
Did you know that Norfolk boasts 7.5 miles of beachfront along the Chesapeake Bay? Head on over to the Beach in Ocean View fo some fun in the sun, sand and surf (well maybe not the wave kind of surf, it's pretty calm out there).
While you are out there we suggest checking out some great spots for a bit to eat like our HRVA Homes VIP members hot new Ocean View spot, Mudita Cafe
2. Farmers Markets!
Norfolk has a few outstanding Farmers Markets and they are a GREAT place to stock up on Labo Day BBQ must-haves like fruits, veggies, meat, seafood and maybe even some amazing doughnuts!!

Ghent Farmers Market- Hosted the 1st and 3rd Friday each month (9/3 is your Labor Day weekend stop)
This Farmers Market is on the newer side but is really well-loved and has an amazing list of vendors. Hundreds of people attend each market. It should definitely be at the top of your list! Located at 730 Spotswood Ave, Norfolk
East Beach Farmers Market- Saturdays 9am- Noon located at 9680 Shore Dr, Norfolk
Recently rated Best Farmers Market on the Southside Silver Award by COVA magazine you can usually find a line at the Klassic Doughnuts truck or maybe some amazing Bloody Mary mix is on your list for a Labor Day Sunday Brunch... you will definitely find what you are looking for at the East Beach Farmers Market
3. Head to the Ballpark!!
The Norfolk Tides will be hosting the Charlotte Knights in a 5 game series with Friday and Saturday nights being Fireworks nights, and take it from the HRVA Homes Team, The Tides definitely know how to do Fireworks right!! Tickets are online now as low as $13 which makes for an incredibly affordable night out!!
4. Head to the ERT!
Grab the bikes or throw on your tennis shoes for a run or walk and head on over to the Elizabeth River Trail!! This 10.5 mile urban trail along the Elizabeth River waterfront is an absolute MUST for anyone. Taking you from Norfolk State University all the way down to Lochhaven and the Hermitage Museum you will learn even more about what makes Norfolk special. With 12 sections you can take the trail on in one day or break it up over a few visits! The Trail is still growing and getting better and better thanks to a great group of volunteers and activists in Norfolk.
5. First Friday- From Main St. to Bousch
Start the holiday weekend off right now that Norfolk's First Fridays are back!! From 5-8 pm on September 3rd, Norfolk's 16-block party is in high gear!! Grab your friends and now you can even grab a drink as you check out this 16 block party with live entertainment, shopping at local stores and Selden Market's outdoor market, and maybe it's a great excuse to grab dinner at an amazing downtown restaurant like Hair of the Dog or Stockpot (2 of our favorites).
